NFL Players And These Are The Days Of Their Lives

Normally around this time of year the majority of stories coming out of the NFL revolve around NFL coaches going to college players pro work out days trying to figure out which college football players to draft that can best help their NFL team for the next season. Being an avid NFL fan I like a lot of other off season NFL fans like to follow up on our favorite NFL teams during the off season to see what moves the NFL coaching staff is doing to improve our favorite NFL team for a run at the Superbowl in the next season.

This off-season for the NFL however has seen quite a few extra headlines in the news lately that unfortunately have nothing to do with the upcoming NFL draft and everything to do with the drama going on in the personal lives of NFL players. A few weeks ago was the news that Tom Brady and his girl friend Gisele Bundchen had gotten married. Now there is a war of tabloid words going back and forth between Gisele Bundchen and the mother of Tom Brady’s son his ex girlfriend Bridget Moynahan. Oh what a joy it is to see this nonsense going back and forth between this triangle of people and all of it in the press with a kid in the middle. One day he will grow up and be able to go online and see how stupid his parents were being

Another sad story of drama going on in the NFL is the legal woes of the wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns Donte Stallworth. Donte Stallworth was recently charged with DUI manslaughter for the accident he was involved in back on March 14th in Miami. The legal case for this will most certainly run into the next NFL season so the Browns are left in the difficult situation of not knowing if Donte Stallworth will be able to play for the Cleveland Brown next season. There has been no decision made public yet but you know that the NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is watching closely and the odds are he may very well suspend Donte Stallworth from playing in the NFL for anyone until his legal problems are settled.

Another player with legal troubles has been making a lot of headlines for the NFL lately is Michael Vick of the Atlanta Falcons. Even though Michael Vick and the Atlanta Falcons are still technically connected legally they both know that it’s just a matter of clearing up some legal NFL contract matters. Michael Vick has made it known through his agent Joel Segal that he intends to be back playing in the NFL this September. Now again this is a case that is dependant upon the decisions of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell as Michael Vick is still in a suspended status from playing with any team in the NFL.

Now there has been one NFL story that has been in the headlines lately that actually does revolve around NFL teams and trades. Well it turns out that the drama between Josh McDaniels the new head coach of the Denver Broncos and their star quarterback Jay Cutler has finally ended with a blockbuster trade. The Denver Broncos have sent Jay Cutler and a fifth round draft choice in this years NFL draft to the Chicago Bears. The Chicago Bears in return sent quarterback Kyle Orton plus two first round draft choices and a third round draft choice for this years NFL draft. A lot of experts have put the odds in favor of the Chicago Bears getting to the top of NFC north division. The achilles heal position for the Chicago Bears has been their quarterback and now they finally have a legitimate talent to drive the Chicago Bear offense something they struggled with even when they made it to the Superbowl two years ago. The Chicago Bears probably have not had a decent quarterback since back in the day with Jim McMahon.

Like I said there has been a lot of extra drama going on outside the NFL with it’s players that I am sure NFL commissioner Roger Goodell would rather not have to deal with at all. Unfortunately it has become a wild west side show when it comes to the media coverage surrounding the extra activities of the NFL players outside the game. I miss the good old days when players from any sport were treated as news stories for the plays they made on the field and mostly ignored for everything off the field, oh well. Like the sands of time these are NFL players and these are the days of their lives.
