Hello once again web folk the last time I posted for the football blog was almost two months ago when the NFL lockout was the hot topic for football. I hope this is no surprise to anyone that is reading this but guess what there is still no agreement in place between the NFL and NFLPA. I know shocking right? The days keep on rolling by on the calendar as we get closer and closer to when teams would normally start having their summer time voluntary mini-camps for the teams. Based on all the NFL lock out headlines that are still in the news it does not look like there will be any early camps this year.
Call me a pessimist or a realist but I don’t see an end to this contract conflict between the players and owners any time soon. Which led me start thinking of a few things that I may end up doing with my Sundays this fall instead of watching the NFL. The first thing I will be doing to get my football fix this fall will be to start watching college football which to be honest with you is not something I have done with any regularity in the past. Looks like I will have to figure out which major college football program is near where I live and anoint them the team to support. I guess that tells you how much I watch college football since I don’t even have a favorite team or know the one’s that are in my area of the country.
OK the second thing that I will be doing on Sunday’s with out the NFL will be playing the newest version of Madden NFL. Lucky for me I enjoy playing video games and I know 7 other guys that like to play Madden NFL as well. Each of the last three years we have played out a season from week to week with eight teams from regular season all the way through a playoff and eventually a Superbowl winner. We would normally play those games during the week when schedules permitted but this year we are thinking about getting all the games played on Sunday since the NFL will most likely still be locked out.
One other thing that a bunch of us are considering is joining a flag football league for the fall. It may not be the same as sitting on our couches with our favorite snacks and in front of our big TVs but I bet it will turn out to be more fun and definitely a lot healthier! Well those are some of the things that I will be planning on for the fall while the NFL lock out is still going on. What are your thoughts on the possibility of not having a 2011 NFL season? Does it matter to you and if it does what will you do in place no games? Will you plan to get your football fix another way perhaps one of the ideas I mentioned or maybe something else? Have your say in the comments section down below.
Kudos to you peruser ![]()
